I have a love/hate relationship with LinkedIn, the website that allows for virtual networking and updating a digital resume. Despite the fact that I always feel unsure about whether I’m using the site right, I appreciate that it democratizes networking, as you don’t have to be in the same place as someone or meet them in person to make a connection. I also think it tends to make networking, and self-promotion easier, which is a quality that I appreciate in a product. By allowing users to keep their pages updated with their professional development, it keeps people in contact with their network and allows for easier communication with potential employers. It therefore embodies one of the most important aspects of my design taste — making something tedious, difficult, or awkward (networking) faster and easier.
