Mendeley is a desktop application that academics can use to organize and annotate research papers. It appeals to several of the pleasure stimuli discussed in Chapter 1, including: ideo-pleasure in that it allows the user to make their own account as a researcher and suggests further readings relevant to the topics the user has been researching, socio-pleasure in that it connects users with other users of the same research field, psycho-pleasure in that it eases the user’s cognitive load by organizing their readings and annotations for them, and behavioral-pleasure in that the highlighting and commenting features are visually elegant and fun to use.
