Right in the middle of downtown Boston, there is a giant glass globe that visitors can walk into. When you walk in, the globe is lit up on all sides, and you can see every country illuminated. The structure of the globe also creates a whispering gallery, where someone whispering on one side of the globe can be heard on the other side. The Mapparium creates a sense of admiration and awe, because viewers can admire the skill it took to create the space, and marvel at the vastness of the world that now surrounds them.
