I find the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, which opened in 2018, super inspiring. For me, grappling with our past elevates us as a society and thus it is increidble to have a memorial dedicating to honoring the legacy of enslaved black people. The museum’s use of sculpture, art and design to immerse the visitor into thie period in history is masterfully done. The memorial also serves as a reminder for us and future generations of what this period in history looked like, and forces a visitor to grapple with our own personal commitment to what justice should look like and what can we do to have a more just society.
