Sony’s flagship consumer headphones entered the market as a supposed rival to Bose’s famous QC around ear noise cancelling headphones. Unfortunately, Sony’s bulkier headphones did not quite manage to take the champion title. Judging by Sony’s advertising the headphones were seemingly meant to inspire via a transcendent experience of elevation: peace and quiet –something many of us long for on our daily commutes or long haul flights. The product works well for droning sounds such as a vehicle’s engine, but not so well for human voices. Individual voices still cut through the quiet bubble these headphones promise to create. Other downfalls include the headphones exterior swipe controls not working in very cold temperatures. An inconvenience that does not befall the Bose Headphones. All in all not a terrible product, but I’d go with the Bose ones.
