CVS wants its customers to only buy from their stores, and to buy CVS products specifically. To influence consumer behavior around this, it offers an Extra Care Card with loyalty rewards points, and offers big discounts on CVS-brand items. This uses the concepts of commitment and consistency, because people will keep coming back to stores that offer them rewards (their rewards program may also use a bit of reciprocation as well!). Also, because there are CVS stores basically everywhere, they increase peoples’ ability to visit the stores by minimizing the amount of time and effort it takes to go to a CVS.
