I love that Github’s weird, creative logo has become so iconic. Who combined a cat and an octopus and then decided it should be the mascot for cloud-based git? It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the actual product but it’s so ubiquitous that just the silhouette is enough to recognize. There are lots of design elements about Github that I really admire; the user interface is intuitive and easy to use, the documentation is written in a friendly, accessible voice, and the actual product is incredibly useful. Truly though, my favorite design aspect of Github is its silly logo.
