Over break before my flight, I decide that I needed some sort of mobile game to fill my time besides sleeping, and one of the first games that caught my interest was “I Love Hue”. The concept is simple: reorder mosaics of colored tiles into perfectly ordered spectrums. It’s a puzzle game of perception that while still challenging, does not require too much thinking. It has a great balance of challenging and relaxing. Its minimalist and modernist design matches its calming and pleasant aesthetics. The sheer number of and variability between levels is enough to keep the game interesting. However, what this game does not do well is its integration with ads. The frequency and length of ads after every solved puzzle is frustrating to the player, forcing them to pay to remove them or quit the game altogether.
