Onesies are essentially one-piece adult jumpsuits or pajamas, and were first introduced in the 17th century in Great Britain. By the late 19th century, retailers began selling various forms of onesies as not only loungewear, but also as more elegant eveningwear. They were so comfortable it was reported that even Winston Churchill had begun wearing them. Much more common, however, was the use of onesies to keep babies warm—this was especially true and relevant in the 1950’s during the baby boom. Today, onesies are worn by nearly everyone—and with how comfortable and fun they are, it’s no surprise why. I personally love to wear mine during the colder months since it’s like having a blanket constantly wrapped around you that you don’t need to worry about falling off!
