I personally find hand sanitizer desirable mainly due to the extreme convenience. While the time and difficulty of finding a bathroom to wash your hands throughout the day may not be extreme, it is still not a routine act for most people. Hand sanitizer removes almost all of the barriers to washing one’s hands, and the travel size creates an on-the-go solution. The travel size also comes in the rubber casing with a convenient clip to hang on my backpack. After using up a bottle, the rubber casing can be removed and a fresh bottle can be added. The ease of access and visibility acts as a trigger to remind me to sanitize my hands before meals or after touching shared items. Especially in the germ-infested college dorm environment, every little step helps towards preventing sickness.
