Climbing shoes are very different from normal shoes, and are intended for sport climbing. The bottoms of these shoes are rubber-like, to increase grip friction. Additionally, the overall shoes are sized much smaller than normal in order to give the climber more tactile feedback from their feet. In climbing, footwork is extremely important, so it makes sense that climbers would want a tight fit. These shoes work both indoors and outdoors due to the rugged design.
