Lighttime was inspired by the Pomodoro technique, a tried and true method to beat procrastination and work more efficiently. When beginning work, the user will put away their phone and engage the timer on the Arduino unit. After 25 minutes have passed, the Arduino will provide an ambiguous update of the user’s notifications that they have received on their phone. The user can they choose to continue working if they are in a good rhythm or can elect to take a short break. During this break, the phone case light will pulse gently. When the break is finished, the light will pulse faster and the user restarts the same cycle. By having the Arduino screen, the user never really feels disconnected from their phone – but the distraction of notifications and such is staggered every 25 minutes.
