Sunscreen.

Some of us (hopefully most of us) wear it when out in the sun.

Civilizations throughout history used a variety of plant products to help protect the skin from sun damage. Ancient Greeks used olive oil and ancient Egyptians used extracts of rice and jasmine. Zinc oxide paste (which looks like white toothpaste) has also been popular for skin protection for thousands of years.

However, since L’Oreal introduced the first major commercial sunscreen product in 1936, some brands have successfully managed to brand it as a luxury cosmetic while others sell the same components in Costco-sized containers.
