What I’ve got is the Sublime song “What I Got!”
Just to hit things off on the proper foot, this song is eternally uninspiring and quite boring. Although the main message is objectively good – “Loving/is what I’ve got” – it rings as a simple platitude rather than any sort of interesting hook or perspective.
In terms of the basic design of the song, it is bland and repetitive. It is based on a few samples, the most notable being the drum sample and guitar sample, which hardly change at all throughout the song. It is difficult to make two chords over and over again sound good for four minutes, and Sublime proves that to be true. The only thing that truly does change over the course of the song are the lyrics – once again packed with schoolyard quality rhymes and conjunctive fillers.
