I bought this jelly hair tie for 100 yen when I travelled to Japan 4 years go. This past break, when I was cleaning my room, it reappeared and I have been using it since. Although people often mistake it for a childish bracelet, it is actually a very useful and comfortable hair tie. The spiral design makes for less elasticity than regular black rubber bands which results in less tugging on hair but also a looser hold. The jelly hair tie was popular in my hometown during middle school because it didn’t leave an indentation in the hair when taken off. The plastic material also makes it waterproof and much more durable than the black rubber bands that break and get worn out easily. All-in-all, I prefer this type of hair tie, although, when I inevitably lose it I will have to convert back.
