EasyListening is a content player and media service that aims to do two things: keep people informed as effortlessly as possible and combat illiteracy which plagues many parts of India. The great thing about the app is that you can choose to listen to or read news articles, and if you are listening, you can comfortably read along.
The home page displays three different categories: Local, National, and World news. Your local news is determined by the location you set when setting up the app. The home page allows you to choose the ratio of local to national to world news shown simply by dragging the banners for each category, marked by the three dots. Therefore, you are receiving your ideal balance of news content, but can readjust the flow at any time.
Here the listen/read hybrid view and the read view are shown, noting how easy it is to switch between the two. Also, since WhatsApp is the most common form of communication, tapping the WhatsApp icon at any time brings up the messenger and display the beginning of the article in the text message, along with a link to open the story in the app or download the app is the message recipient does not already have it.
One feature not shown is the ability to pre-select stories you would like to download once on wifi if a cellular network is not available or too expensive to use. This way, you can browse a list of headlines and decide what you might like to listen to on your commute back home and the like.
