Bookmark, a news app geared toward new smartphone users in India, provides the most up-to-date news and events coverage. The name refers to its layout shape and the recognition of duality in conventional physical medium as well as online medium. (Similar to the way that a “notebook” could refer to a physical notepad or a laptop)

The 1.0 version features four bookmarks: world news, local news, lifestyle, and travel. The use of simple icons and headlines is especially beneficial for first-time internet users. The user swipes left or right to go to different pages.

For world news bookmark, there would be a section for breaking news, four icons that display different regions of the world, and a chat forum for users to input opinions.

For local news bookmark, pictures of famous/ controversial individuals would be the shortcut for the story, as they are recognizable to the readers in the region. There are also social media icons on the bottom for someone to share or tweet out the news to friends in the area.
