What I’ve Got: Winsor & Newton’s Cotman Water Colours Sketchers’ Pocket Box

by post_author

As someone who sometimes dabbles in creating art, I typically stick to pen and pencil for my sketches and leave the paints for the studio, but Winsor & Newton’s Cotman Water Colours Sketchers’ Pocket Box gives my philosophy a run for its money. The box itself is made from plastic, though the exterior is pleasing to the eyes, especially as a golden “Winsor & Newton” brand is etched into the lower right corner. The is incredibly compact—it is as big as my hand—while packing 12 different colors and a paintbrush inside. Its lid can also function as a palette to mix the colors.

Thus, the design is incredibly useful for a traveling artist: It is able to provide all the essentials for watercolor painting—save for the water, but that can be easily obtained anywhere—in a small, easy-to-carry object. In that way, Winsor & Newton’s Water Colours Sketchers’ Pocket Box achieves its function as a watercolor set while providing another edge to its competitors through its compactness.
