#gcarney #challenge0 The Dr. Marten began in 1901 as a “modest work-wear boot that was even sold as a gardening shoe,” since then the shoe has become associated with populism, festival culture and the British punk scene. My beloved docs (shown) first appealed to me because of this ‘cool’ legacy, their distinctive yellow-stitched rounded toe and their PVC, air-cushioned, acid-proof sole. Whilst I don’t intend to go frolicking in toxic waste dumps anytime soon, I like leaving the house knowing that I am dressed for the occasion should I have a change of heart.
