Jordans were first introduced in 1985, during Michael Jordan’s rookie season. The first pair was designed by Peter Moore, who forever changed the conception of what a basketball shoe could look like by introducing colorful basketball sneakers. This new take on basketball shoes promoted Jordans not only as an athletic sneaker but also as streetwear. Since their inception, Jordan shoes have had a cult-like following, especially amongst younger generations, with people lining up around the corner for new Jordan releases. Jordan has been a big driver in Nike’s dominance of the basketball shoe market (90% market share), what has become a multi-billion dollar industry.
