I’m referring to the service, Headspace. It’s powerful and well designed because it makes meditation an approachable and enjoyable experience. Coming from a place of no experience, I was excited to find animated videos and tons of narrations spoken by a pleasant British accent.

Headspace is designed around making a habit, something I am a big believer in. It asks only for a few minutes a day, and in return offers all the scientific benefits that meditation carries with it, including being able to brag to your friends that you meditate.

What makes this service successful is its reliance on phycology. It provides incentives to maintain a habit while also urging users to take small steps to prevent them from getting burnt out in the short run. The app even utilizes the peak-end effect at the end of meditation sessions by allowing the narrator to give a breakdown and look forward into the future.
