It was almost spring break, and I was almost out of study energy when I found Neko Atsume — an app game that I found strongly amusing.
The idea of the game is simple, you leave the food and the toys out. Turn off the app, and the cats will come. Different cats are attracted to different toys and your goal is to meet all of them!
I find this game highly addicting and desirable. The rules are simple and commitments are low. I am also amused by the choice of the graphic. It imitates a low resolution drawing that is flat and somewhat pixelated. The color tone is pastel and light. But the combination of this gives me a very comfortable feeling. It makes me feel like I’m in the serene space with my cats.
Yes. My cats.
I am speculating that the choice of visual makes me feel like this game is simple and not demanding.
