I’ve never sewn before, but I’ve always been interested in textiles and clothing design. Even with the aid of a sewing machine, I was actually quite nervous to make my pillow. Once I had started I still felt a bit uneasy with the machine, probably because it was the ultra-fast stinger; it even scared the student who was sewing next to me! The process also made me contemplate what “hand-made” means in the world of fashion. Does a product constructed by a person using a sewing machine count as “hand-made”?
