KETLA: News for all

The challenge was to design an app for the semi-literate in different regions of India. The best way to engage and communicate is through clear, informative images, with top stories that are easy to access. On older devices with lower data capabilities, keeping the need to load new pages to a minimum is important, and a simple swipe to the right will reveal the next pre-loaded graphic for easy reading. The easy user interface and ability to share content through email, messages and social media allows users to share both the stories and the platform with their community. Keeping words to a minimum reduces the need to translate material into multiple languages, and increases the amount of content that can be generated and shared.
