I don’t think anything is more desired in Cambridge right now than Sunshine. I’ve heard countless friends and people on the street walk around saying that they wouldn’t mind the temperature being even 5 degrees colder, “as long as the sun was out.” It is interesting to consider how brands/companies can harness this “coveted sun” in the design of products or services — I wonder if products that are only used when the sun is out and shining have a more positive reputation among customers; for example, if sunglasses have a more positive reputation than winter hats, regardless of the quality of the product, because customers only use sunglasses when the sun is out and shining, while winter hats are associated with snow and cold. Do products that are associated with a positive element like the Sun have an inherent advantage in being desirable?
