What I’ve Got – Soapstone Beer Mug
I recently bought this mug as a gift for my boyfriend, and I can’t stop obsessing over it. After reading Desmet and Hekkert’s “Framework of Product Experience,” I realized it perfectly fulfills all three types of human-product experience. Aesthetically, its rustic materiality and weightiness makes it a pleasure to look at and to hold. Symbolically, it makes me think of a bucolic country lifestyle, and I take pleasure in knowing that the stone was harvested and handcrafted in Vermont. Emotionally, I feel pleasure using the product because it is hardy and keeps drinks especially cold. Most of my drinkware either focuses on being beautiful at the expense of durability, or durable at the expense of beauty. I am impressed with this mug for giving me all three human-product experiences.
