These concrete rings are hand made in Taiwan by 22 Design Studio. Personally I like them because I used to cast concrete sculptures and these rings resonate with my craftsperson side. I think a lot other designers and people in creative industry will like them as well because they are made of an unusual material which is usually applied in large scale construction. This effect makes the fine texture of the rings look even more desirable. To some extend the success of this ring is tied to its inherent and external contradictions: inherent in a way that the fine grain and controlled geometry contrasts the scale and texture that people usually associate concrete with; external in a sense that the craft and time needed for the craft to happen contrasts in many ways objects are often fabricated with modern machines.
