I approached my younger brother at the onset of this challenge and he advised me to incorporate cats into my infographic, because “they are simply one of the most viral things online” – whether they are in the form of memes, articles, images or videos. I challenged myself to appeal to the broadest audience possible: simultaneously high and low brow – both intellectual and completely silly. I chose to make an infographic about cats and physics. The basis of the defenestration of cats is inspired by a Radiolab podcast (Falling) that I, personally, spread to all of my friends and family two years ago when it initially aired. This story begs for a graphic – when you listen to it – you can’t help but visualize cats falling out of skyscrapers.
