A collection of clothes by Issey Miyake made with a unique “garment pleating” technique where the materials combine functionality – they’re light and wrinkle-proof, they don’t need to be dry-cleaned, and they can be folded to a compact size for easy storage and carrying – with a versatility that makes them suitable for all settings in your daily life. What’s extremely interesting to me about this collection has been its ability to engage with its audiences since its launch in the late 90s. Through marketing campaigns that are basically art, and a diversification of products despite the same raw technique – they have effectively engaged with ideopleasure, sociopleasure and physiopleasure over the past 2 decades.
