On a whim at CVS, I recently bought a pack of Brookside’s dark chocolate and promptly devoured the sweets within two days. I don’t think there is anything particularly outstanding or eye-catching about its packaging. Close-ups of the main ingredients (chocolate and pomegranate) and the product itself, the company name and flavor, and some “healthy” nutrition facts on the front seem standard across all food packaging. However, there is a subtle healthy undertone to snack as emphasized by the picture of the pomegranate and the words “dark chocolate”. The snack itself is obviously delicious, and my brain craves its sugariness. Aside from being simply sweet, it is the textures that also fuel the craving to eat another one of these bite sized balls. As the chocolate outside melts away or is cracked open, it reveals a chewy, fruity inside whose sweetness contrasts enough with the chocolate outside to be interesting and enjoyable to eat. It is a “daring ball of smooth dark chocolate with a fruit flavored center”.
