The Light Phone wants to make a breakthrough in the smartphone market that has been inundated with ever increasing features and time-sucking apps. To break this cycle, the Light Phone designed a phone that has very limited features: 4G, an alarm clock, messaging, and ride-share app capability. The rationale behind this seemingly bizarre reversion to an unsophisticated smartphone is that the current smartphones on the market cause their users to waste a significant amount of time that they are not consciously aware of spending. Additionally, it is too convenient to spend a lot of time on social media apps and mindlessly surfing the web when you have a smartphone in your pocket at all times. With a Light Phone, only the essential aspects of a phone are available, saving the user a lot of time and anxiety that is caused by being constantly stimulated by a normal smartphone.
