For me, the Helmut Lang Watchband Belt is one of the most interesting accessories in fashion. It’s essentially a waist belt made of stainless steel that stretches, looks, and feels like a watch band. I find it both sleek and eccentric- an uncommon combination. The belt is from the Autumn/Winter ‘04/’05 collection, which is the last collection designed by Helmut Lang himself before the brand was sold. I think the fact that it’s one of Helmut’s last designs also makes the piece more desirable to others, though for me, the brand doesn’t really drive my interest in the object. Rather, it’s the combination of two typically different things and seamless and simple way they come together in object with significant utility and aesthetic allure.
