My theory is that in order for a post on my social media account to do well it needs to balance emotional and creative appeal to get the engagement and likes but can only do so if it is catching enough to make the viewer pause and respond. By this I mean, that the post will ideally have both me and either a parent or significant other in it. Additionally, there should be some level of creativity either in the caption or execution (lack of creativity may sometimes made up for if the post captures big event/holiday/milestone). No post does well unless it is aesthetically pleasing enough to stop a high-paced, on the move scrolling audience- the post should have a clear image with proper lighting, proportionality and vibrant color. With this, it isn’t surprising that dimly lit photos with few subjects and simple captions do poorly.
