I have been so excited to make this post since I heard about the “What I’ve Got” posts. The Adams dining hall chairs frustrate me to no end, and are fantastic examples of a design decision that didn’t take into account context at all. Though good looking and relatively comfortable, the armrests on these chairs make them very difficult to get in and out of. Part of the problem is the design of the dining hall as a whole, which packs the chairs too closely together. Combined with the bowed out armrests, half the time you need to pull the chair super far out, or, and I have actually done this, stand up on the it and jump out over the side. End rant.
(spot the almost interlocking armrests on the left side)
