Tragic events force a new perspective on life, and time becomes the most desirable thing of all. More time with loved ones, more time appreciating those around us. In terms of Maslow’s pyramid, I see the more superficial desires as a luxury of having the basic necessities fulfilled, but when we lose someone, we subconsciously reevaluate the pyramid and where we fit in it. I think people desire time more intensely than anything else.
