Project Xun tackles the issue of the absence of long-term commitment and trust in volunteering work in Chinese local NGOs by setting up personal data for every volunteer.
One important factor why volunteers lack long-term devotion in many local projects is that it is difficult for them to track their efforts in relation to the progress of a project, because NGOs do not do a good job communicating with workers who contribute on-and-off. With Xun, the usually veiled connection between a volunteer or a donor and a project becomes direct and unmediated by the NGOs organizing them. A person thus is able to follow through directly the progress of a local project without multiple levels of (mis)communication, and is able to track his/her own impact and effort at a regional scale.
