I chose to redesign the OpenMBTA app interface. OpenMBTA is an open-source transit schedule that provides real-time information about public transportation arrivals in the Boston area. It is a useful tool, but the existing app is extremely confusing and difficult to use. It currently asks users to choose a specific bus or train line rather than suggesting the best schedules. I simplified the interface and added an option for users to select start and end points that allow the app to suggest preferable routes. I also added an option for users to select the way in which they prefer to travel–by the fastest, most direct, or most scenic route.
