i-Robot Roomba

Roomba is an autonomous vacuum robot created by i Robot. Since its advent in 2002, it sold 8 million sets.
I think one of the reasons why this became so popular is that its human-like move. Roomba’s movement is not so much robot as humanistic. When Roomba gets entangled with deep-pile carpet, it sounds a sad beep sound to ask for help from human. It also makes it familiar for users.
I think this robot is desirable in terms of human- like interactions and sense of belongings. We can use a robot as if it is a pet. Roomba is an interesting example to think about the future where human and robots coexist.
