It is so interesting that a purely digital software company wants to sell “physical” products like these. What might be the reasons?

In my opinion, it is because digital platform is inherently without life, without personality, without everyday friction and roughness. Digital life is evanescent, facile, too clean and too predictable. People need drama, vulnerability, texture and need to feel the “weight” of what they use. Like whenever I complete reading a physical book from cover to cover, I feel so much more happier than if I completed the same book on iBooks or Kindle.

People are “touchy-feely”, as simple as that. That’s the way even digital companies would have to adapt themselves if they want to create some real connect.
