Can desirability be expressed in numbers? Apparently so, since a number of ‘likes’ became a commonplace social currency. What’s unique about this phenomenon is that it’s the first time likeability has been exposed publicly. Success metrics have historically been available only to the owner of the product or they were released when the product is no longer hype and relevant (e.g. movie revenues). Likes on social media, on the other hand, are ingrained into the post from the beginning, and content creators will do everything to make their post as ‘liked’ as possible.
