With the new wave of social innovation organizations, communities, and groups emerging (e.g. StartingBloc, Riordan Fellows), I can’t help but wonder to what extent they help people create start-ups. Are they there to help, to educate, or merely to put a label on a person and say, “hey, you care about creating socially innovative start-ups?” As more and more people create start-ups and are tagged as socially innovative, do we lose meaning in the words? As StartingBloc fellows grow in number, do the first few admitted fellows lose their prestige?
