The UP band is an interesting concept overall. I’m technically able to do everything it’s capable of with other applications and products. I can track my movement with a pedometer, sleep patterns with the Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock, and eating habits with a whole host of calorie-counting websites. The real draw is its simplicity. It bundles all of these features together with one app and one bracelet-looking wristband that never needs to be taken off (even in the shower!). A lot of the success of UP therefore seems to stem from its marketing and the way it is specifically positioned to attract the those seeking easy ways to improve their health.
