Everyone has experienced the thrill of discovering a new place. Sadly, with the thrill of travel comes the risk of getting scammed by people who take advantage of the fact that you don’t know any better. Backpackers are particularly susceptible to getting ripped off, with their tight budgets and deal-seeking tendencies.
Introducing Tripoff: the app that protects you from getting scammed. Tripoff offers location-based information on the market prices of food, transportation and accommodation, as well as a wiki-curated collection of scams that travellers are likely to encounter in their particular locale.
In the future, we envision Tripoff as a personalized, socially-integrated app that can deliver individualized recommendations based off users’ preferences and connections. Because no one wants to get ripped off.
