This very simple candy (or gross sugar-chalk as some might argue) had been around since the late 1920’s, and continues to populate the shelves of the candy isle. PEZ has grown beyond a mere candy and dispenser, and have now become collectible items. One of the appeals of the candy is the dispenser, providing a more interactive means of eating candy. Not only are the dispensers fun to use, but they exist in many forms, appealing to a wide range of tastes and giving the candy a more personal feel. This also creates a demand for dispensers – with the hope to finish a collection of characters from a movie, for example – although eating the candy only requires one working dispenser. Additional demand was created by producing limited-edition dispensers, making PEZ a successful, lasting company.
