tkts is a simple app that provides information about purchasing discounted Broadway tickets through the the Theater Development Fund (TDF). Currently, customers must physically wait in line at TDF’s iconic red steps in New York City, so the app does not enable mobile ticket purchasing. In our vision, customers receive a number through the tkts app once they arrive at the red steps, which counts down until the user is first in line and may purchase tickets directly through the app. The app then provides suggestions for nearby dining and entertainment, and then sends an alert to help users get to their seats on time. We also included a profile complete with a personal show history for a more individualized interaction. In the future, tkts could use these profiles to develop their mobile experience into a social one. Our version of tkts modernizes the process with a virtual queue and mobile purchasing possibilities while preserving the unique physical experience TDF crafts with its red steps.
